Course taught in Cantonese & English. Materials provided by Studio.
This class, taught by David Jasper Wong, covers soft ground etching techniques. Soft ground allows for a softer, more pencil-like mark compared to hard ground. Using light pressure, soft ground can create various tones and textures by incorporating malleable materials like fabrics, papers, plants, and feathers. Chine collè will also be introduced.
The workshop includes demonstrations to guide students in creating intaglio images on copper. This provides an opportunity for artists of all levels to expand their intaglio expertise and access MPC's professional printmaking facilities.
Soft ground etching is great for introducing texture, direct impressions, and more into etchings. In this one-day course, instructor David Jasper Wong will demonstrate how to work with soft ground's fragility and permeability to create drawn lines, tones, and textural effects.
