Independent Studio Access for Experienced Printmakers

Looking for dedicated studio time to continue your printmaking practice?

Our Open Studio Sessions offer independent access to selected printmaking presses and studio equipment in a supportive creative environment. These sessions are designed for artists and makers who already have prior experience in the printmaking technique they plan to use.

Whether you're continuing a project, developing new work, or simply making time for your creative practice, Open Studio gives you the space and flexibility to work at your own pace.

Please note that technical instruction and guided support are not provided during Open Studio sessions.


What’s Included

  • Access to selected printmaking presses and studio equipment

  • Independent studio time in a shared creative environment

  • Studio induction and orientation (if required)

  • Opportunity to continue personal printmaking projects

Who Can Join?

Open Studio can be booked by anyone with prior experience using the printmaking process they intend to work with.

To begin using our open-access facilities, you may be asked to:

  • Share examples of previous work

  • Attend a short studio orientation before independent use

  • Complete an induction process and technical assessment

If you’re unsure whether your experience level is suitable, feel free to contact us before booking—we’re happy to help determine which option is best for you.


New to Printmaking?

If you’re not yet technically confident or experienced enough to work independently, we recommend joining:

  • One of our short courses

  • A one-to-one training session

  • Individual technical tuition

Our goal is to help you build confidence and ensure everyone can safely and independently enjoy the studio.


Studio Induction & Assessment

After booking your Open Studio session, you’ll receive information about studio good practices and preparation.

At your first session, a short induction may be required.

During this induction, the Print Studio Coordinator will:

  • Introduce studio procedures and expectations

  • Review safe equipment use

  • Assess technical readiness for independent studio access

Please note that if additional technical development is recommended, you may be asked to attend a course or arrange one-to-one support before continuing with independent studio use.


Session Information

Time & Date
We schedule sessions based on community interest—if there’s a particular process or date you’d like to see offered, let us know.

Booking
Advance booking is recommended to reserve your spot.

Walk-ins may be accepted where space allows, however all sessions operate with a maximum capacity.

Cost
Pricing varies depending on the session format and studio access provided. Additional costs may be added on depending what extra materials you may need.


Materials & Tools

Depending on the type of Open Studio session, selected materials may be available for use.

Additional materials can be purchased through the studio—please request materials in advance by email or through our contact form to ensure availability.

Higher quality ink, Archival paper in varying density, Large screenprint frames A3+, Screen print medium are available through extra payment depending on quantity/scale.


Open Studio Policy Agreement

By booking an Open Studio session, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You will work independently without technical instruction

  • You have experience in your chosen printmaking technique

  • You will follow all studio safety and equipment procedures

  • Studio access may be subject to induction and assessment

  • The studio reserves the right to recommend further training before independent access is granted
