About the Lino technique:
Reduction Lino is a method of relief printing whereby multi-coloured images can be printed using one lino block. Through a process of multiple cuttings and printings, a series of coloured layers is printed one over the other to produce the final image. Lino has been used by artists since the late 1800’s, most notably the reduction method was favoured by Picasso. Cut and printed in a similar way to woodcut, lino has grown in popularity due to the ease of cutting and its smooth printing surface.
About Lucy Parris:
"As a printmaker I love the slightly unpredictable nature of the reduction lino method. Colour is what excites me as an artist and I am always happy experimenting with how inks combine to produce complex and beautiful prints. Before recently relocating to Hong Kong I completed an MA Fine Art and was lucky enough to work as a support technician at the Birmingham City University Print Workshop supporting artists and students in their own learning journeys. I have exhibited in Hong Kong and the UK and most recently at IMPACT 11." - Lucy Parris
