This is an introductory course to the process of hardground etching. A traditional technique where an image is etched into a metal plate before being printed multiple times. The course has a set structure with practical exercises to help you learn and understand the process. Basic methods of intaglio printmaking will be demonstrated and discussed before participants begin working on their own designs.
This course covers : theory and process of intaglio printing, preparation of copperplate, application of hard ground, image preparation, preparing the paper, hard ground etching, mixing ink, printing the image. Upon completion of the course participants will have completed an edition of 5 A5 prints on fine art acid free paper to take home.
All materials are included and provided by the studio. The course uses oil based etching ink.

David Jasper Wong is a Hong Kong based printmaker & painter, he received his BA in fine art from Pepperdine University, Los Angeles, USA. He has exhibited his works in group exhibitions in the Hong Kong and Singapore.
